Fidel Antonio Castaño Gil - Rambo
He was the fearable Fidel Castaño, a mysterious character that hardly ever was mentioned in the spotlights but who was once a former narco-associate of the Medellín cartel in the war against the state.

The power of the Castaño clan was even pondered to be on equal levels, if not surpassing as some argue, the reign of Escobar G.
Out of networks in the high tiers of the Colombian military up to multiple security agencies of the state, the family financed and launched multiple fronts of paramilitary groups with the backing of ranchers, victims of marxist guerrillas, industrialists, politicians, officials and so forth.
The main reason presumed to be the cause for the initiation of private armed groups by the family was after the kidnapping of the father of the brothers by the leftist guerrilla FARC in the late 70's.
Since then, the family in association with other narcos and paramilitary leaders, were involved in multiple cases of selective assassinations, massacres in small towns and villages, the extermination of the political party Unión Patriótica throughout the 80's, killings of mayors, senators, judges, teachers and a book of other violations of human rights that extended for decades ahead.
The nickname of 'Rambo' originated believably because Fidel was someone who did not mend efforts to face anyone who would dare to confront his ideals. Usually described as a fancy individual, enjoying many kinds of luxuries, expensive exotics and a real admiration for exclusive art paintings,
Fidel was thought to be a person who did not expressed outbursts of anger or was too emotional, opposite characteristic of his brother Carlos who had a different temperament.
With the broken ties with Escobar, believed to have already been having a cold-war with the capo before he went to la Catedral, Fidel headed what became the worst enemy and the key element for Pablo's downfall: LOS PEPES.
Pablo stated in letters to the press:
"...The government do not persecute the terrorists from Cali and neither it releases wanted commercials of Fidel Castaño, the paramilitary chief, even though this person has killed thousands of people from the UP (Political party cited in the text)..."
"...If it is to have justice, may it be for all. I suggest you gather a picture of Mr. Carlos Castaño Gil, Fidel's brother and now chief of paramilitary groups. The declarations and testimonies against this person will broke in pieces the judicial history of Colombia..."
